Types of Home Spa Rituals

There are virtually endless methods to produce a wonderful home spa ritual or routine. In most cases the home spa ritual will contain elements of the following:

  • Facial Hydrating Masque or Exfoliating treatments
  • Aromatherapy Bath
  • Moisturizing
  • In some cases you may have time to engage in all three forms of spa treatment while other evenings may only provide you with enough time for a quick bath or a full body moisturizing session. Regardless, when you do find yourself in need of some relaxation and distressing, you’ll want to be sure that you have the items you need at your fingertips.

In each of the above categories you can either make your own products or buy them already prepared and ready to go. Below you will find several suggestions for each of these categories. Get ready to pamper yourself and feel refreshed, reenergized and reborn with your new home spa ritual!

Facial Hydrating Masque, Microdermabrasion or Exfoliating treatments

There are literally thousands of different recipes that you can find online, in books or from magazines to make homemade facial masques and exfoliating treatments. The same can be said for premade products. For the ultimate in stress relieving home spa rituals look for recipes and products that contain any of the following ingredients: oats, avocados, aloe vera, honey or ground nuts.

    Aromatherapy Bath

Aromatherapy has been around for centuries but has only recently reached its current popular status. For a relaxing bath seek out products or recipes that contain any of the following essential oils: lavender, ylang, ylang, patchouli, orange, grapefruit, lemon, sage, chamomile, jasmine and geranium. If you are running short on time simply run a hot bath and drop in 2-5 drops of one of these oils.

    Moisturizing

There are multiple forms of oils, creams, lotions and gels that can be used to moisturize the body and nourish the skin along with the senses. Try using an aromatherapy moisturizer after your aromatherapy bath for the perfect complement to an already relaxing home spa ritual. Carrier oils and emollients that are excellent for the body include almond oil, grapeseed oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, jojoba oil or apricot kernel oil.

If you are making your own moisturizer begin with one of the above carrier oils. If you are purchasing an already made moisturizer check the labels until you find one with one of these oils as its main ingredient. Add in any of the above mentioned aromatherapy/essential oils found under the heading aromatherapy bath if you desire.
